Northlink College Wingfield Campus links with Siemens and WD Hearn
A partnership has been formed with Siemens in collaboration with WD Hearn Machine Tools. Two CNC lecturers have received maintenance and diagnostic training in Germany at the Siemens factory sponsored jointly by Siemens and WD Hearne. This was followed by further advanced training on the yearly maintenance requirements of a machine tool and also training to enable them to manage geometry tests themselves to ensure machining accuracy of a CNC machine tool.
Siemens also donated Sinutrain classroom software to Northlink College which is implemented in the educational sector of Germany, Turkey, France and other first world countries. As such Northlink College is now an official CNC training partner of Siemens in Operating and Programming ShopMill and ShopTurn and Service and Maintenance. We are also in the process of having a WD Hearn machine installed in the CNC department with 828D Control as a further donation. The outcome of this particular partnership is to be able to offer a CNC maintenance course since there is such a scarcity of CNC maintenance technicians in the market.
