Northlink College Engineering lecturing staff with the Transnet Staff ready for their tour.

As part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by Transnet and the TVET College in the Western Cape, Transnet invited the College lecturing staff from the Bellville, Belhar and Wingfield Campuses of Northlink to get a view of the Transnet School of Engineering Facilities and how this national giant in the transport industry does their training on their site.

“This exchange will not only create opportunities for our staff to see and experience the current external working environment, but also will give our students the opportunity to be exposed to other companies such as Transnet to help these students get permanent employment,” says Yasin Johnson, Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Co-ordinator at Northlink College.

The 1hour 30 min tour of the depot included a tour of the training rooms and the workshops of the company.

This exchange is seen as not just a vital part in the development of the College sector and the staff, but also serves as a great incentive for students that would like to enter the workforce and work for a prestigious company such as Transnet.
