#KnowYourAlumni – Jean Stemmet
Northlink College is well known for many achievements as well as sporting greats that have been asked to play a part in the development of our nation’s sport. This is just as true for one of Northlink’s Marketing Management students, Jean Stemmet – currently playing center for the Griquas Ruby Union.
Jean was studying for his National Diploma in Marketing Management part-time at the College from 2005 – 2008 while he was in the Western Province u/19 and u/21 teams and during his stint as part of the Northerns Northlink College Rugby team. During his time at Northlink, Jean remembers many things but the lecturing staff is one thing he will never stop talking about.
“The lecturing staff that facilitated our classes was unforgettable as they made you felt as part of their family and always understood if there was something that could lead to a postponement of a test. They were always understanding towards their students, especially Mr. Groenewald. He was a man that gave you the confidence to continue studying and enter the business sphere,” says Jean about the Northlink staff.
Jean adds that he now can use what he has been taught at Northlink to not only beter his own future, but touch other people that are less fortunate than him through sport.
“I have started my own coaching business called GemsBok Kidz. We do rugby and netball coaching clinics at the primary schools in Kimberly and have had more than 200 kids attending these clinics,” adds Jean.
Jean is currently marketing and recruitment specialist at his Alma-Mater: Paarl Gim. We with him well in the future.
