Introduction

This qualification has been developed for professional fitness practitioners and consultants in the fitness industry, and it is intended to uplift the standards of fitness in South Africa. This is a national qualification registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). The qualification outcomes are quality assured by the Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector for Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) under control of the Qualifications Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO). It is recognised internationally in countries where the Registered Body for Exercise Professionals (REPS) operates among others the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

General

This qualification will enable the learner to screen, assess, monitor and manage health related fitness and wellness programmes. A qualifying learner will promote and provide safe and effective physical activity participation to meet participants’ fitness requirements as well as provide educated advice on lifestyle change for improved well-being.
