General

LECTURE TIMES – Full-time lectures run from 08:00 to 17:00. Students will only be required to attend when they have lectures.

Comptia A+ is the preferred performance-based qualifying credentials for technical support and IT Operational roles. A+ Certified professionals identify issues and problem solve more effectively than those without certification. CompTIA A+ supports the ability to connect users to the data they need to do their jobs regardless of devices.

You will gain skills to:

Support basic IT infrastructure
Advanced device connectivity troubleshooting
Configure and support PC, mobile and loT device hardware, connectors and peripherals.
Implement basic data backup and recovery methods.
Apply baseline security skills, detecting and removing malware, addressing security and device hardening.

Comptia Network+ N10-007

Network+ validates the knowledge and skills needed to troubleshoot, configure, and manage wired and wireless networks found in computers. Network+ certifies a professional level understanding of emerging technologies including cloud and virtualization technologies.

The ICDL programme defines the skills and competencies necessary to use a computer and common computer applications. It offers a wide range of modules including Computer Essentials, Word Processing and IT Security. Candidates take tests in the modules which are most relevant to their educational and professional requirements, thereby creating their ICDL Profile.

BASE MODULES

COMPUTER ESSENTIALS

This module will teach you the essential concepts and skills relating to the use of devices, file creation and management, networks and data security.

ONLINE ESSENTIALS

This module will teach you the essential concepts and skills relating to web browsing, effective information search, online communication and e-mail.

WORD PROCESSING

This module teaches you to use a word processing application to accomplish everyday tasks associated with creating, formatting and finishing small-sized word processing documents, such as letters and other everyday documents.

SPREADSHEETS

This module teaches you to understand the concept of spreadsheets and to use a spreadsheet application. It will enable you to perform tasks associated with developing, formatting, modifying and using a spreadsheet, to use standard formulas and functions, and to competently create and format graphs or charts.

INTERMEDIATE MODULES

ICDL Intermediate modules complement our range of Base modules. They will enable you to develop your skills in knowledge areas that are appropriate for your everyday life, or for your job role.

PRESENTATION

This module will enable you to demonstrate competence in using presentation tools on a computer. It will teach you to perform tasks such as creating, formatting, modifying and preparing presentations using different slide layouts for display and printed distribution.

PROJECT PLANNING

Project Planning has been developed to enable you, the computer user (rather than IT professionals) to use project management software to prepare project plans and monitor projects including planning and managing time, costs, tasks, and resources. These skills can be applied to both work and home-based projects.

ONLINE COLLABORATION

This module teaches you how to effectively collaborate on online/remote project, either for work or study. It sets out concepts and skills relating to the setup and use of online collaborative tools, such as storage, productivity applications, calendars, social media, web meetings, learning environments, and mobile technology.
